Passion

I'm on the hunt for a new job. It's tedious work and just plain exhausting. Especially when the unemployment rate is 20% in this town. Any decent job that is worth looking at has about 200 applicants. I guess I could just go to Taco Bell and get paid, but I freaking have a Masters degree for gosh sake...I deserve to be paid like I do.

Anyhow, all this job searching made me think of passion today. I wish I were talking about bedroom passion, but I'm not. I'm trying to figure out what my passion in life is. I believe that no matter what profession you choose, you should have passion for it. I'm sure you've meet those people who just absolutely LOVE what they do. I meet a lady, years ago in the Wal Mart fabric store. She knew everything about fabric, yard, zippers, patterns and everything else in that section. It was so clear that she was happy to help other people share in her like for fabric. She OBSESSED over all things fabric.

When I was in school it took me years to figure out what I wanted to be when I grew up. It wasn't long after I taught a sunday school class that I knew what I should major in. Many, many years later I was sitting in my own classroom proud of myself for what I accomplished. I taught for 6 years in an elementary classroom. And not one time did I think I had the passion, or obsession as that lady from Wal Mart did. I didn't smile when I walked into the classroom or even get excited to wake up. And when my beautiful daughter came into my life, it made me not want to go even more.

So I went back to college thinking that I needed a change of scenery. Another classroom. I'm now certified to teach any student from age 3 to 93. I was hoping to start teaching college courses. But I've learned the hard way this week, that in order to teach at the college level, I need to have a degree in the exact subject (i.e. math english etc.). A general education Masters degree does nothing. I thought I'd be more mad about this. But I'm not.

So I'm back to "What do I want to be when I grow up?" I'm just not passionate about teaching any more. But for the life of me...I can't think of anything I am passionate about.

Last week in my new ward the relief society president asked me to fill out a paper that describe myself. The question was what hobbies I enjoyed. I left it blank. Seriously??? I mean I'm just realizing that I have no passion and now I have no hobbies? Am I really that boring?

I really need help. What can I do with an education degree that doesn't involve a classroom? And what hobbies are interesting that I can start? Oh and can you figure this all out for me before my husband leaves me? He is really mad that I don't have a job yet.

What are you passionate about?
